“Lie detection” can be looked at as part of the "mind reading" skills also mentioned. However, lie detection using your senses as the instruments, is a widely documented talent that can be studied in psychology and criminology courses across the country. In short, a skilled practitioner of the art focuses on: facial expressions, gestures, posture, and vocal cues, such as rhythm, pitch and volume to ascertain individual indications of deception. Generalizations can be made, but a skilled practitioner will note an individual's reactions over a long session of questioning, as many indications of deception are easily masked by an educated deceiver or are cultural expressions that vary with the subject.
